Self-Defense for Parents and Kids
St. Clair Hospital’s Feminine Focus program is sponsoring a three-hour self-defense workshop for parents and their kids, ages 6 to 14. Instructor David Marks will incorporate information on prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, as well as realistic hands-on defense training. Class is Oct. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Clair Hospital’s Second Floor Conference Center. Cost is $20.

Bridgeville Borough Halloween Parade
Bridgeville’s Annual Halloween Parade is scheduled for Saturday, October 28. Registration is from 10:15-10:45 a.m. at Goodwill Manor. The parade begins at 11 a.m. followed by a Halloween party at Triangle Park. There will be prizes awarded for the best costumes. The parade is open to children ages infant to 10. Children's activities are sponsored by the Bridgeville Public Library. Treat bags are distributed by the Bridgeville Community Association.

Wide-Awake in Bridgeville
Bridgeville is “Wide-Awake” on Thursday nights. Shops are open until 8 p.m. and we have “free” parking.

Living Well with Diabetes
Diabetes is a complex disease for which there is no cure. It is a condition that you must deal with by making sure you have the best possible information to make the proper decisions about your health. Ohio Valley Hospital’s “Living Well with Diabetes” program of consultation and classes has been designed to assist you in obtaining the information you need. Ohio Valley Hospital offers a variety of CPR classes for the community. All classes follow the American Heart Association guidelines and cost $50. Call 412-777-6271 for class times and more information.

Hugs for Healing Hearts
This pregnancy loss support group at St. Clair meets monthly in the Hospital’s Fifth Floor Oncology Resource Library. Next meeting is Monday, October 30 from 7-9 p.m. Family and friends are welcome. For more information or to register please call 412-942-5895.

Arthritis Seminar
St. Clair Hospital’s Center for Motion Recovery and Department of Orthopedics & Rheumatology will sponsor a seminar entitled “No Bones About It,” on Tuesday, November 7 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Meeting Room. Available surgical and non-surgical treatment alternatives for arthritis will be discussed. Product demonstrations, educational materials and refreshments courtesy of Stryker Orthopaedics will also be available. Admission is free but pre-registration is required by calling St. Clair Hospital’s Public Relations Department at 1-866-248-4500, extension 1025.
